Hi! I’m Kasey, and I’m here to invite you to join me on a challenging journey. I’ve attempted this journey many times, but I haven’t made it very far in the past. This time, I’ve decided to be the one thing I haven’t been before. I am going to be brave. Here is your chance to make brave changes too! Here’s how:
By forgiving ourselves.
The number one way I have failed myself in the past is by not forgiving myself for stepping, or even wandering, off the path. I’ve followed the rabbit (i.e., Little Debbie Brownie) off the paved road into the forest of high calories and added sugars. Instead of turning around and heading back, I’ve just given up and gone back to my cave. I’m guessing you have too. It’s human nature to head straight back to our comfort zones. This time, I am committing to returning to the path and following it to the kingdom, and helping you do the same. We are in this together!
By tracking our calories.
Tracking is the best way to create our map to success. My favorite was to do this is to use the myfitnesspal app. It’s a personal food, activity, water, and weight tracking diary, but one that can also be a group adventure.
By listening to our bodies.
Our bodies talk. They are our partner on this journey. If we listen to them instead of ignoring them, our bodies will be our best allies.
By experimenting instead of limiting ourselves.
Trying new things will be our secret weapon. We will not be afraid of the new creatures that are new foods and recipes. We will add to my repertoire instead of taking things away. Giving ourselves more variety will help us move forward on the path.
By focusing on awareness.
We will be aware of our surroundings. We will enjoy the scenery and the journey. We will not duck our head and ignore our food while we eat. We will savor each bite. Most importantly, WE will try to redirect our attention when we are bored, or stressed, or upset instead of eating our way through our emotions. It won’t be easy, but it is doable. We will work our way through the tangle of our feelings to make better choices.
Will you join me?
Your path might vary some from mine, but if we travel together, we will make it down the road. We will share insights, thoughts, good times, and bad times. Best yet, we won’t be on our own. Welcome to the adventure!
